![]() KEEN is a national, nonprofit volunteer-led organization that provides one-to-one recreational opportunities for children and young adults with mental and physical disabilities at no cost to their families and caregivers. KEEN's mission is to foster the self-esteem, confidence, skills and talents of its athletes through non-competitive activities, allowing young people facing even the most significant challenges to meet their individual goals.
![]() Ryan Kloos, a KEEN Phoenix Volunteer, Lost in Haiti Disaster Regular KEEN Phoenix volunteer, Ryan Kloos, 24, was killed in the earthquake in Haiti. He was visiting the orphanage where his sister, Erin, works when the earthquake struck. She was severely injured as well, but is in hospital in Miami and expected to recover. An article at azcentral.com has a picture of Ryan and his sister. He was going to start medical school this fall and had a terrific sense of humor. He was a wonderful asset to KEEN and will be sorely missed by our athletes, their families and our volunteers. Our hearts go out to his family. To read the azcentral article about Ryan, click here.
